If your backpack is in need of repair, follow these tips to restore it to its original beauty and shine.

Colored bags may have used materials that come off easily with cleaning, so first test the durability of the paint on the inside bottom before you start cleaning.

To keep the shape of the bag, fill it with paper.

Use a white cloth and ice water.

Wring the cloth well and wipe the bag gently to remove stains.

Mix two to three drops of dish soap or baby shampoo in a container of cold water.

Run the bag through a soft cloth until the fabric is damp to the touch.

Using the cloth, apply the foam from the soap mixture to the entire surface of the bag.

Dip a second clean cloth in ice-cold water and run it over the bag to remove the soap residue.

Place the bag upright or at an angle. Wipe it with a different cloth following the direction of the seams. Do not rub against its seams.

Let it dry in a cool, well-ventilated place for 12 hours.
